Sound Insulation for Single Cab
Hi there, I'm new to the forum. This summer I bought a 1995 2wd Hilux/pickup DLX single-cab with the small engine. It's my first vehicle, and I like it so far except for one thing:
The cab is quite loud, and I am a bit overwhelmed by all the different ways people try to sell me 100$ sticky foam bits that promise to help.
Are there a few cheap "try this first" things that you would recommend? My mechanic suggested Ziebart underbody spray but it's really expensive. I just want to be able to hear my music & podcasts properly without having to crank the volume to the point of distortion on the highway.
The truck has new speakers put in by the previous owner before sale. It's still got the OEM radio+cassette deck, but I am planning on buying a not-the-cheapest new stereo unit. That should help too.
Thanks for any advice!

Look at the thread below for my '89 4Runner. I showed a link for someone's build that used Peel n Seal. I also used it in the doors. Also do a search for Peel N Seal on here. It's a roll of stick on insulation that they sell at Lowes and Home Depot in the roofing section. It's about $15 for enough to do both doors. You'd probably need three rolls to do both doors and the floor. You have to pull the seats and the carpet and make sure you address any rust you might find in the floor first. I would not bother to remove the factory insulation, just Peel n Seal over it. Any way there are tons of builds that show how! One thing is use a sharp pair of scissors and a roller really helps. This one is $8.33 on Amazon:

While on Amazon do a search for "Sound Deadener" and see if you like the prices better than P&S.

Thanks for the advice, so I get some Peel N Seal (or whatever brand), and stick it all over the insides of the door panels, and under the floor carpeting?
I read somewhere that this kind of deadening is not useful unless your door seals and such are 100% good. Should I be checking the door and window seals first?
This is my first vehicle and my first time modifying it, so I'm probably too careful. It doesn't help that I don't have a garage to work in, or any tools to speak of really. I got scissors. ^_^
