True...but then again, some folks - myself included - don't want their truck to "scream" bug out vehicle. I'd prefer to blend in. Anyway, I just got my hands on a 1995 Pickup (22-RE, 4x4, 5 speed), so it's a work in progress.

This is how I got it from the second owner (all of the modifications were done by his next door neighbor - who was the original owner):

that is true, i agree with scuba. The thing is though, others and myself included probably have "bug out gear" collected on stand bye. IF i ever need a "bug out rig" i'll just run home and throw my pile of "bug out gear" in the bed of my truck. It might not be as pretty and as orginized as coreys rig, but it'll do.

It'll just be a pile of gear in the back of a truck

I agree with benja. A BOV is supposed to blend in. In a SHTF scenario there will be robberies and looting galore and a vehicle that is piled up with obvious high utility equipment is a prime target. Keeping everything minimalistic would be my choice. I'd file up my future truck box with the essentials and roll out. However the more thought out and stocked BOVs are incredible and if you are in a less populated area that is the way to go. You'd just drive out to the middle of the forest/desert or.wherever and live out there. But for someone like me who lives in a relatively large city. My primary concern would be to get out of the city and into the nearby Chihuahua desert and camp there. Followed by supply runs to stock up on other items. Hopefully these scenarios wait for me to get my Yota in good condition.

I think most 4x4's are BOV's by default. You should have tools, first aid, some kind of communications, and supplies in there at all times. Like any other type of trip, if you really need to bug out you just add some gear for the situation and go.
