Should I try to adjust my coilovers? Rust...
I want to adjust my sway away 2.0 coilovers, but the threads are quite rusty. I'm rather disappointed by the amount of rust as even though they are about 4 or 5 years old, they don't have a lot of road miles on them. Here is what they look like on my 4Runner:

I'm guess I should leave them alone or replace them.
Any other thoughts or comments?

Mine look like that too. I should say they DID look like that before I got them rebuilt. I couldn't budge the rings on mine to adjust them or take them apart simply because of the rust. I sent mine to HPST racing to have them rebuilt and they did a great job. I ended up putting new springs on mine as the old ones had fatigued some. How do the stainless shafts look? I put about $350 into mine to get them in good shape (lots of new parts), but I still have the original rings and threaded bodies that are rusted. I should have had them replace those too.
If you want to adjust but can't on your own, you could pull them and take them to a race or motocross shop to see if they could do it. It's pretty embarassing that Sway A Way used materials that could age so quickly. I won't be buying from them again.

Thanks for the replies.
I checked out your build thread and my shafts do not look as good as yours did in the before shot. They have not been cleaned, but they appear to have a coating of grease on them taking away any kind of shine.
How long did it take HPST to turn yours around? I found the sway away site has parts listed, but I can't find an exploded diagram showing the exact part names so I would know what to order. I tried to get to the HPST website but it would not open for me. Not sure what is up there.
