Shopping for a truck

I regularly look at toyota trucks on craiglist in the oregon/ NorCal area and I have been seeing a few trucks that are like early to mid 80,s, asking price of 3-6k and their claiming the truck has like 130k miles, sounds hard to believe, has anyone heard of people altering the odometer on these truck.
Thanks

Wouldn't be unheard of to change the odo. Also not completely out of line for those to be legit odo numbers. Also I don't recall offhand what year we got the extra digit on the odometer, it might have rolled over once maybe twice, and since the workforce has gotten a bit lax for various reasons some of those official registration "mileage" are not at all accurate..

When I did my last VIN inspection the inspected never even looked at my dash or got closer than several steps. "Read me Vin.. Hit your brakes. Flash the turn signals. Oh what does the odometer say. Here's your title transfer.."

For what it's worth, my 1987 Truck has 101,500 actual miles on it. It is not unheard of to have a sub-150,000 mile truck for your year.

I know of a '92 that has around 120k, so like Jake said not completely unheard of.
