White smoke and no heat... are they related?

Well... here goes. New years day, I get a flat tire... no big deal. two days later I leave to go to FL and have my friend drive my truck to college. Thankfully, he got here safely and I returned back from FL. Then my truck started billowing WHITE (headgasket?) smoke. She almost stalls and such, but it stopped acting up about 3 days ago. Keep in mind that I only drove it for a little while because I was afraid of making the problem worse. Now, there is no white smoke... it has completely gone away... BUT my heater doesnt work anymore. I dont know what is going on. Are the smoke and the heater related? I dont know if Im making much sense at all. If there are any more questions that I might need to answer before a decent diagnostic may be reached?

Is the antifreeze down??? white smoke sounds like headgasket.... lack of antifreeze caused by headgasket sounds like the heat problem... if you are low on antifreeze add more... bet your white smoke comes back....

I agree with Mr. Bob. You are out of coolant and the culprit is most likely your head gasket. Add coolant to your rig before you blow your engine, the engine temp sensor reads off your coolant ,and with none in there you will not get a reading.
