I am looking for expert opinion on the following issue:

My 01 Rav4 4WD had engine replaced at 47000 miles under warranty in 04. 25000 miles later I was advised that flex plate was cracked. Aamco did the repairs and advised that dowel/pin had been cut - also had to replace torque converter. Could anyone give valid input into why this flex plate cracked with only 72000 miles on the clock - just regular local driving - last few years have done very little mileage. Well maintained service records.
