A question about steering wheels

This is just a general in your opinion type question and a tech question. The steering wheel on my 95 runner is coming apart. There is sticky stuff where the wrap is coming apart. I never use the cruise control and have never used it. I was thinking I would replace it with after market. I wanted know was there anything I had to do to take the cruise out of the loop on the after market. And has anyone gone to after market, what was your reason? I know some folks want to keep their ride stock. And I am keeping all the parts that come off. I am more interested in control and drive ability .

Your cruise control controls are in the stock steering wheel?

The 2nd gen runners and 3rd gen pickups the cruise controls are on the steering wheel.
OP getting the stock steering wheel fixed isn't an option?

Yes the cruise is in the steering wheel. The buttons labels are worn off so I don't even know what each one does. I suppose it could be re wrapped. But I have never had any luck with the wrap kits from the auto stores. So that leaves a restore from a shop. Im just looking to wheel on the weekend. Not a mall crawler. I don't and will never use the cruise control. To much of a control freak.

If it just gets driven on the weekend Id just get a cheap steering wheel cover and be done with it.
