Pinnion seal won't stop pouring
Hey yall, Im finally getting to the nickel and dime parts of the truck and cannot get the pinnion seal to quit leaking. I have swapped it, did not notice any groove worn in the pinnion, and greased the new seal as i put it in. The only thing that i can think of is that it got over torqued and smashed the seal. Is there a rough ft/lb that i should torque it to or jsut impact it? Trying to avoid tearing it apart, limited space and no pneumatics.

Mine is leaking too. I've only had the truck for like 3 weeks and havent gotten around to fixing it yet. Make sure your u-joints are in good shape and driveshaft is balanced. I guess unbalanced drivetrains can wreak havoc on the pinion seals. good luck.

Pinion seal replacement guide:

On the leaking, check your diff. breather to make sure it is not clogged. If it is, that can pressurize the axle housing and force oil out past the path of least resistance.
