pin striping
Ever since I bought my 4Runner I tend to notice them more on the street than I did before I owned one. Now it seems I am always on the look out for other 4Runners like mine.
I have a Maroon colored 4Runner with white pin striping down the sides. Which is funny to me cause two of my friends, one who doesnt have the 4Runner no more, have the same color and pin striping too!
So I thought about it and decided to take off my pin striping and put up some new ones. I new that if I just take it off there would be fresh paint underneath there and you would still be able to see were the pin striping was, hence the new pin striping.
So I left work and headed over to Pep Boys and bought some flat black pin striping which only came in a 2" role. I also borrowed a heat gun from work in order to take off the old pin striping. Easy right? Wrong!
That stuff was baked on! It would come off but it took me like 15 minutes just to take off a 4" peice of old pin striping. Forget this!
So I decided to go over the existing pin stripe with the new stuff. I had to double some of it up on the back door and the back fender cause on the 4Runner it is wider than 2 inches. It tapers from the front and gets wider towards the back. Came out great! And now my 4Runner looks somewhat different from the rest. Just a little bit. Check it out and tell me what you all think.
P.S. I posted a thread yesterday asking how do you get to the bulbs in the rearview mirror. I want to change them out to LED's. Tired of looking at the yellowish color when I need a light on. If anybody knows, I sure would like the help. Thanks!
