Photoshopped paint job - what do you think?

I don't have the money to paint my truck right now, so all I get to do is imagine. What do you think of this idea I photoshopped? It's simple, but it appeals to me.

No, it would be a dark olive drab on the paint, and a dark graphite gray on the chrome and wheels. Like I said, real simple. What do you think of the shade?

I guess it's not really worth posting, but I liked it when I photoshopped it and felt like sharing.

I like it alot, I have a 3rd gen 4runner and I'm wanting to paint mine flat black.
That dark olive looks real nice too, seeing that picture confirms my decision thou, I wasn't to sure what it would look like.
But like you, I'm only at the imaginary stage until I acquire everything I need.

as it sits I do not care for it. take off all the plastic crap and add some inches and it might be different.

It will look better if you loose the running boards.

I'm still digging on the OD - glad that some of you like it too. I can go either way with the running boards. I might lift it one day, but not too high.

How about with blacked out headlights? I think that looks better. I'm going for a tough-looking truck - almost a military feel. I want a low visual profile that wouldn't stand out in the woods out here in the east, particularly in the N. Ga. mountains. Something that could be overlooked, but if noticed, says, "Don't tread on me."

My long-term goals include a beefy new bumper and winch and maybe a roof basket.

This is the sort of place I'd be most likely to drive it, other than my regular route.

make it a true black instead of the gray. especially if you're going with a new bumper and smoked lights. and add just a little more green to the olive color.

EDIT: check out the new army green color that toyota has available for fj's. do something like the fj on the right.

I dig it, man, but I agree- the running boards don't fit the OD/ rough and ready look, in my opinion. I think that the flat to satin range of subdued colors (black, brown, tan, gray, OD, etc) tend to look really good on these trucks. Black looks less "finished" and grey should be at least satin gloss to avoid looking like primer. Again, just my opinion. Of course, that is what you asked for.

Here it is with a little more green in the OD, and the same color on the wheels. I changed the gray to black on the former chrome parts.

Can't say that I like it quite as much. I sorta like the new army green in your pics, but I don't like it for my own rig.

I think less the running boards and a lift it would look good but sitting stock with that color says to me "I'm trying real hard to LOOK tough even though I'm not". JMO

lol - I guess I could see how some might think that, but I'm not out to impress anyone or bluster. I won't be parking it out front of any biker bars. I just like the look, and the utilitarian nature (blending into the surroundings in nature) and that's plenty enough for me.

I can't really photoshop the pic well enough to remove the running boards. I'll take the advice on those under consideration.

Check out malteserunner's rig for an idea of how a runner should look when combined with flat OD. As for the tough look you would be amazed what a change of tire will do. say a 31 or so minus the running boards. it is not all about looks either it is about purpose. I know how much of a pain in the rear it is to photoshop the body. use layers and your eraser tool the most it will help.

Should be able to erase the running board, then clone that shadow that is below it into the empty space. Darkening a little bit as you get closer to "under" the car would probably do the trick.

Yeah i think your rig would look good in a semi gloss, or even flat version of the color on the fj above.

Not to thread jack, but i want to see some of these photoshop skills you guys have. I cant seem to do it and keep it looking clean. Can someone do semigloss black on my runner?
