Opinions on rough idle/CEL etc. '88 V6

Have an '88 V6 I got recently, 180k, has had a new timing belt, water pump, etc. Was running great, heat stays where it should be, coolant level stays constant. Towed a 3000 pound tractor and trailer for 3 hours on a VT highway...which is basically a million big hills, and it was fine during and for weeks after. The CEL would come on after driving 15 miles or so. Then a few days ago, the CEL ceased to come on, and soon after the idle became very low and bobbing between 200 and 500, almost wanting to stall and I lost most power, most noticeable in 4th gear. I opened the hood, disconnected the battery, found that a few vaccums that go to the injectors were loose on their barbs, and the two larger ones that come off the the front of the block that go to the MAF were completely lose; those old pinch type clamps must have been worn out because they didn't keep the hoses tight. So I pushed the small ones back all the way onto their barbs, and replaced the pinch type clamps with hose clamps and tightened them up good. Reconnected the battery and now it has a steady idle at 7 or 800, has full power back...Haven't driven it far enough yet to see if the CEL comes on again or not. Just looking for opinions....would disconnecting the battery simply reset something else that is really at fault and the problem will reoccur? I have a farm, and this is my daily driver, so I am driving over bumps and ruts (slowly, not beating on the thing) fairly often...wondering if that has been enough within the last week or so to dislodge vaccum lines? They certainly seem original. I am supposed to drive 4 hours one way in 3 days...just wondering if I should assume all is well or borrow another rig. Any opinions welcome. Thanks.
