Oil Cooler

Has anyone used the 'tranny cooler' portion of their radiator as an oil cooler? Does it take the pressure, dont know which is higher engine oil or ATF? Does it have enough flow?

I think this would be a simple thing to do on a 5spd, providing you are already relocating the oil filter. Extra oil is always a good thing.

i really doubt it'll take the pressure, and if it does, it wouldn't make much of a difference anywhere.

My 91 has a factory oil cooler between the oil filter and block.

that was snapped just after i pulled the large center bolt out as part of my "replace the oil seal" that was leaking on it.

note the fauker weights like 15lbs and is about 1.5 times the size of a hocky puck so dont let it surprise you if you take it off...

yes its a 3vze thing... its located on the drivers side of the block... well right behind the motor mount...

i dout you could get it to work with a 22re as it kinda has a weird hookup. the bolt looks like the stem you find attached to the block that the oil filter attaches to.

oh gotcha, If the radiator wont work I'll probally run a small inline one. I am going to do a dual filter (full-flow and bypass) relocate, and the best place to put it is on the cab under the bed out of harms way... And with the run I'll have room for a small inline filter, if I even need it.. I have seen these wraps for filters that give them fins...

By the way, that little tuna can oil cooler for the 3VZE costs several hundred dollars IIRC!
