Story first: OK so today i was out on the ocean and as i was packing things up i saw a nice little Dummer digging all four tires into the sand as fast as possible. He has backed down the ramp too far to unload his boat and missed BOTH ten foot slabs of concrete.He was farther out than what the picture shows but made some progress. His buddies tried shoving boards under the front tires but to no avail so i offered to try to pull them out (95.5 tacoma 4 cyl stock). Alas it was a lost cause lol. Then they made an attempt with a larger "truck". They hooked the two hummers together and pulled, jerked , and tugged. Didn't budge. Strap broke(mine) and one metal hook almost went through the gold hummers window. I just smiled. So the full bottom of the black hummers was sunk in sand.

Question: Is there any simple combination of mods i could do to my truck that could make it easy to pull him out?

Tell him not to dig himself in.

oh, to YOUR truck...... Really low gearing, and a lot of traction. If you're just slipping your tires, you're not going to be able to do anything. You could also try a long strap, and get a good run on it, but you're way more likely to snap something off of his truck like that.

 

warn1200lb winch and a snatch block. that wet sand is probably like concrete wrapped around everything.

 

a winch. I would say trying to "jerk" this guy out is probably not the best bet 'cause I imagine that wet sand is "sucking" him down. Then again, his weight vs yours is also a problem. I had a buddy of mine try to winch out a suburban(90's model) that was sitting on frame in the mud with his TJ on 36" IROKs. If you ever wanted to see a jeep do a hand stand, well this would be it. I simply tied off my truck to the rear bumper of the jeep with a tow strap and viola problem solved. The 'burb came out no issues.

Now a winch and a winch bumper aren't a "simple" mod...

But yeah, You would have to have reallllllly lllloooooooow gearing, and ALOT of tourqe..
Find someone with a cummins diesel or a super duty..
Have them pull them out..
Im sure they wont mind yanking their chain with the happiness of rescuing that POS from high tide.

 

Probably the best thing possible to tow him out would be if you could wrap the strap around a tree and make a rough pulley system. It doesn't look like they're any trees around so I don't think that there's much you can do.

Quadruple transfercases with 4.7s in every case, with lockers in both axles, 5.29 gears (can you say 10325:1 crawl ratio), humper weighs about 7000lbs so imagine that being strapped down on a flat bed trailer buried underground, thats probably what that thing is like!!

 

Sure, buy a one ton.

get rid of your strap with the hooks. get a quality strap

Sand has suction. the hummer guy is a tard. He buried it to the frame. I would have said, bummer hummer and walked away. Shovels work wonders.

stuff I used on a recent recovery, I ended up using about 60 feet of strap to get to firm ground....
Loaded up my recovery gear 5-6 shackles, 4 straps, tree saver, shovel, high lift, and my old 'more' power puller:



yanked the little mitsubishi tractor out first, it was easy.
The John Deere took a little geometry to due since i couldn't get a straight pull:

ended up with a ton of straps hooked up to get the Trekker to firm enough ground, first pull in 2.28 low didn't go, tried 4.7, no go. put it in double low and it came out with ease:

If you are gonna drive on sand, airdown your tires, he's got those things so firm they are like knives on sand. I'm from HI, i know about sand. air it down and dont dig in, keep the momentum.... oh and tell that fruitcake to get a real rig and to learn to back up a trailer!!!

 

Funny thing was he was back today. They city cleaned the sand off the ramps today since he got stuck so badly. But we were set up and watched him back in again. HE MISSED THE RAMP AGAIN!!! lol but since the city fixed things he was able to get out, but only barely. All the people that saw him yesterday cheered when he got free today and he got pissed and shot the finger. good times

 

I wonder if he check the fluid in his rear diff yet
