need help- A pillar for tach install ?

I need some help, I'm installing a aftermarket tachometer on my 84' 22r and I just want to know what is the most popular choice of where to install the actual gauge? I thought about buying a new gauge cluster with a tach for the dash but that's too much work.

I like the A- pillar idea but I'm not sure which one will work on my vehicle. Does anyone know? I looked on summit racing .com but none of them are spec for my truck.

I don't like the idea of drilling a hole in the dashm but if I have to then I will.

I was going to buy the 2-5/8" Sunpro tach.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Put it whereever you like. Some put it on the steering column, some on the A-pillar, some on the dash (anywhere you like it) and some put it on the hood. No matter where you put it it's ugly, but the alternative is to swap the cluster. Swapping out the cluster is no more work than mounting a tach and running wires anyway, you still have to take the dash apart somewhat.

Here is the A-pillar gauge pods I used:

You'll need 2" guages for that pod. Another option is to swap in an SR-5 guage cluster, it'll have a tach and real oil pressure gauge:

anyone put the 2-5/8" tach on the A -pillar for a 4 runner or the pick-up? I'm still trying to find the right A-pillar pod to buy. I can't find a site that spec one out for the toyota truck.

I doubt you will find one, either make one out of some PVC pipe fitting elbow or find something for another vehicle that is close and modify it to fit.
