Need help: Clutch problem?
Havn't had to replace a clutch yet, but I ordered a Marlin Crawler one yesterday because I think thats what my problem is. I just wanted to ask some more experience people to see if they agree or if there is something I overlooked.
Nearly every morning, I start up my 97 4runner and for the first 3-4 times I take off from a stop, it's really jerky. If I rev it higher, it usually isnt as bad, but it seems that ones it gets warmed up, the problem stops. I'm pretty sure its not me forgetting how to drive a stick every morning since it didnt do this a few weeks ago. Also, to shift gears, I have to push the clutch all the way to the floor before it will go into the next gear, and when letting the clutch out, it catches only in the last 1-2 inches of travel.
So is this a clutch going bad? or could it be a problem with the hydraulic system or anything else you can think of? I have 123k on it right now, and just seems odd that a lot of people talk about having 150k with no clutch issues... I guess I did let 2 people learn how to drive a manual with this vehicle, but I didnt figure that would knock 30k off its life.... I'll wait and see if anyone has any helpful advice. Thanks
