My Overdrive Light Is Blinking...?...
(I am posting this here because the Auto tranny is similar across the generations.)
So it dosn't do it all the time, but it will come on randomly no matter what speed. It dosn't matter if its warm, cold, or what gear I'm in. It won't stay on for long, but it's on for different leangths of time.
I searched and only came up with one instance of it on Yotatech. (And the symptoms arent even close to mine, thankfully.)
I thought maybe it was time to flush the fluid, so I took her to Oilcan Henrys, and did the whole flush and fill. It did need it, but it changed NOTHING.
It came on almost immediately, as if to say "Nice try suckah...", blinking away, just like before....mocking me...Grrrrrrrrr.
It accelerates normaly (for a slushbox). I haven't noticed a diference in gas milage. It shifts through the gears without hesitation.
WTF!?!?

Check the diagnostic (CEL) codes. If it has happened repeatedly, it should have stored the code. My '95 OD light would flash intermittently when my speedo cable broke - not all the time, but off and on. It did store the code - I jumpered the diagnostic connector and read the codes - code 42 (on both the O/D light and the CEL light). New cable, reset code, no more OD/CEL light. The code will tell you your problem.

Yeah- I checked the code and then disconnected the battery to reset the computer. It happened when I screwed up my AFM conncetion. I think I had to jump my "Diagnostic" terminal J3 and (something else) with a wire to make it show the code.
