My first JDM purchase

My teenager is driving our 2000 CR-V and the transmission finally let go. I decided to buy a JDM one off an ebay seller with 100% positive feedback.
The price and shipping were reasonable and there are no JDM importers near Boston that i know of, so I didn’t sweat the shipping cost.
I did not have high expectations and it’s a good thing I didn’t. There is no way to prove this trans is truly out of a car with 55-65k miles on it, as alleged.
But here are my observations after unwrapping the “new” trans.

As it arrived.

Torque converter unseated because it was held (barely) by some random cover plate and screw.

Lines bent and cracked beyond saving. One wire out of a connector. Why?

Cut wire, smashed connector.

Trans housing worn where CV band spins. Trans considerably dirtier than expected for alleged mileage.

Only about 94F outside.

A hole in the starter? Somebody explain that.

We were able to drive it and it felt pretty good… but so did the original up to about 250k miles. So, all i can say is, if you are buying JDM know who you are dealing with. Clearly whoever removed this trans was not very careful or concerned doing it. It would have been very nice to be able to receive all the parts in good working order, but there’s no promise of that anyway.
