MT/R's turn blue!

My MT/R's turn a slight blue, usually after I moderately wheel my truck. Why is this? Is it because of the compounds the tires are made of? Anyone else with these tires notice this?

Sorry, I don't. But it turns a slight blue after wheeling and usually goes away after I wash them. It doesn't go away right away, but after a day or so of washing the blue usually goes away.

watch out for smurfs when you go muddin...

are the tires new? the blue coloring might be coming from the sidewall lettering. I still have some on my tires that i've had for over a year, and they've been through plenty of mud and car washes. just my .02 pics would help, too.

The tire are about 6 months old. And I have the blackwalls out, whitewalls on inside of rim not showing. The blue appears on the blackwalls.

When I ordered these tires, the place said that they didn't have them in the size I wanted in stock because they had to wait for Goodyear to make some before they could get some. Actually, a few companies told me this. So they haven't any time to sit on any shelves. Could this have affected them?

no its probably just the rubber and will go away someday. as for the tire being unavalible they wont be for ahwile i guess my buddy just recently got a new one after he blew the sidewall and he got the very last one in the entire state. crazy i forget the reason why they stopped selling them but was told it may be awhile

I've had BFG's, Swampers, MTR's and Dirtbike tires that all did this same thing. Behind my house i have a large field area where they are doing some construction, i have taken all my trucks back there to twist up on the dirt piles and check things out after working on them and whenever i take my dirtbike back there to fool around the tires on both always turn blue, i just assumed it was something in the dirt doing it?? Like you said, after washing, or a good rain it usually goes away.

It may be the dirt but heat can contribute also I think. It happens to our dirt bike and quad tires on the track. "Blue grooves" in the track is where the dirt gets really hard packed and slick and then spinning your tires all over it makes them turn blue.

My TSL's used to turn kinda green. I assumed it was some mold/algae I had wheeled in...

I've seen a picture of MTR's on a truck where below the tread was blue. It's odd.

Mine have done that before, after washing. I only noticed it once, though.

I have this all the time as I live in an area with very alkaline soil. When it rains here and people drive through areas where there is a lot of dirt in the water their tires turn blue. All brands do it so I think it is some sort of reaction between the rubber and something in the soil.

what's a little blue between treads.

Mine turn a very light shade that could be considered blue in some lights after wheeling in sand. Do your's turn blue blue, like royal blue (aka Smurf blue)?

No, not a royal blue, but rather an ugly flat blue.

It's the heavy metals in the dirt and mud. Check out the latest Peterson's 4 wheel drive and Off-road mag. In the Ultimate Adventure, most of the guys tires turned blue after mudding in Texas.

my goodyear silent armor and my swamper ltb's both turn blue when i wheel them, theres a LOT of clay at the park i wheel at, however none of my buddies get blue tires, only i do.

and mine turn smurf/FJ blue, the color is pretty vivid.

i get the smurf jokes on the trails.
