mixing different weight oil

I've got a few quarts of 0w-30 and some 10w-30 laying around. Would it be prudent to mix the 2 weights together for an oil change or just stay with one weight? Any harm in mixing the two? Hope I'm not !

What's the reason behind mixing these two oils?

Like I said earlier, I've got a few quarts of each wt. laying around in the garage and wanted to use them up for my next oil change. Just wondering if it would be OK.

I've always heard mixing weights is OK, but mixing different brands may not be OK.

they make oils with different weights for a reason. theres 2 viscosities to every oil, 5w30 for example has the viscosity of 5 and 30 each in a different situation. i'd stick with what ur manual says to run and not mix em personaly..

Mixing them is fine.

Jeeny - it is ok to go thinner on start up - i.e. a 5w30 if your stock oil is 10w30, or even a 0w30 if your stock oil is 10w30.

Holy crap, really? All this time I thought you had to follow the manual the whole time. Man you learn something new everyday on this forum! :bigclap:

I hope you know that was just being sarcastic!
