Misfire after engine cleaning

So I cleaned the engine today (simple green and water). After cleaning, I'm getting what sounds like a misfire.

I pulled off all of the plug ends to see if there was water down the holes. Nothing. I'm going to take a look at the MAF and give it a cleaning.

Anyone know what the problem might be?

I know you checked the plugs for water but that's what happened to me when I first got the truck. Decided to get a detail and they blasted the motor w/ water and it would idle funny. They tried blowing compressed air into the spark plug areas but to no avail and eventually a CEL (didn't look up the code). After we swapped in new plugs, no CEL and it ran great.

BTW, you didn't get water into the airbox, did you?

No water into the airbox. I just shot carb cleaner over all the hoses to see if there was a vacuum leak, but to no avail. Cleaned out the MAF with electrical spray - no luck.

I tried putting my code reader on the truck, but the darn thing isn't being detected!...figures. And I need the truck by tomorrow morning, 10:30. I think I may be screwed.

Looks like I'll try and replace both the wires and the plugs tomorrow morning. I'll let you know what happens.

Thanks!

check your dist cap. The seal around mine was cracked & let water leak in the cap.
Mine would missfire when I washed the motor.

New plugs and wires fixed it. 2 of the plugs had a little water in the holes, even though I blew the heck out of them with the air hose. Go figure. Thanks guys!

This happens to me every once and a while. Just driving around for 15 minutes or so will dry things out and fix the problem.

You were lucky or you didn't have as much water in the holes. I drove the truck around two days sputtering after blowing compressed air in the spark plug holes to no avail. I guess it dried up after a few days but the plugs were all messed up and needed to be replaced...
