might have found new dd

i found a 1989 toyota celica GT, its and automatic and has 230k miles on it, they want 650 for it and it says it needs a little work. so my question is, what kind of gas mileage do these get? and also what motors are in these and is it worth it when it already has 230k miles on it?

I wait for the mighty yotatechers response.

89 Celica GT will have the 2.0L 3SFE engine, also found in the Toyota Camry. My girlfriends 87 celica (same thing) gets ~32mpg, but she has a stick.

See if the owner has done any major work recently. THe engines dont have a lot of problems, but find out about the timing belt, etc etc.

What work does it need in terms of "work"?

edit: i looked it up on some website and it says it only gets like 22 mpg. i dont see how an auto tranny could get ten mpg less than a stick.

22 city maybe.

An auto will generally get lower MPG's, depending on how you drive it of course.
