Need to work on my pic uploading skills!! that pic is kinda blurry, I will try to post a better one after work...anyway, several bolts, several pieces of connecting rods, and lots of misc metal pieces...ouch.

Yeah, it was funny, cause I knew it was toast, but I honestly expected to find just a few metal chunks...not EVERY moving part in the motor!!!

Wow. I see at least one cap, a bearing, maybe more bolts than one connecting rod can account for. Course, it's pretty blurry so there could be piston and ring bits in there for all I know. Wha' happened?

well, I bought the 85runner from a junk yard with a clear title(not salvage) but they said it had been overheated a bit...I just wanted a trail rig so I wasnt real concerned with the condition. I figured I would work on it here and there. Well, when I tried to kick the motor over it made some "funny"sounds!!! I knew it was blown, but hoped it was rebuildable or at least worth a core...nope!!!! so this was in october 05, I have been hunting and studying since then and finally found a donor truck so I thought I would pull it out and see what was going on,,,and here we are. I count at least 2 connecting rods, 9 nuts, 4 studs of unknown origin, a bearing and tons of shrapnel...TONS!
the funny thing is that most of the nuts and studs threads are in PERFECT condition, like they backed off. I think some dumbass rebuilt the bottom end and did not put it back together right!!
And after all that typing I still cant post a decent pic!!!!

I am actually surprised it needed a rebuild, it only has 157,xxx on the clock. But who knows what happened to it before I picked it up. Even tho the motor is blown, the rest of the truck is in great shape, almost no rust, looks like never wheeled cause there are no scratches or dents anywhere on the undercarriage, so I am hoping once the motor prob is resolved I should be ready to roll!Doug

You might be better to mount it in a junker frame and then roll it down a big hill into a tree for the insurance $$.
j/k
Hope to see some more crazy photos from this rebuild.
