Its the driver not the vehicle

I shift from 2500-3000 RPM, have 31" tires. 4:88 gears and run twin 45DCOE Webers. I get about 23 MPG highway running 3000 RPM in 5th gear. Truck weight, gearing, tire size and the driver effect MPG. I read somewhere that 43 mph gives the best gas mileage but I don't believe everything I read-LOL

45mpg? You must have swapped in a hybrid motor out of a Prius!!! Was the Swap hard?? Hows the power/weight ratio working out? I heard they were Peppy lil motors!! LOL
Anyways back to what i was gonna say, My 84 2wd, with SAS and SBC gets about 11-12mpg if i stay outta the gas, and thats on 39.5's. Now my 86 4wd gets about 15mpg and thats mostly dirtroads and in the woods. And its on 31's with a brand new weber 32/36, Still got some more fine tuning to do and i'll be happy to squeeze 17-18mpg out of it.

Friday i filled up and got 15.93 mpg. Lame. Wont be able to accurately do this test anymore, this weekend i found out my timing was off by 15-20 degrees retarded (12ish degrees After TDC stupid PO). That will most likely give me better mileage so my control MPGs will be off.

I get about 15mpg no matter what I do, on average.
