If a clutch is chattering, will it need to be replaced soon?

If a clutch is chattering, will it need to be replaced soon?
I just bought a new to me Tacoma with 183k miles on it.
I had my mechanic inspect the truck and he said the motor and transmission are in good shape, but the clutch has some chatter, which I had not noticed (probably because it's running 33s on 3.91 gears
).
If the clutch is chattering, will it need to be replaced soon?
I'm just starting college and will probably only put 2000 miles or so on the truck in the next year, so I'd like to budget for this but delay it as long as possible.

Ugh. That's what I figured. I also noticed that the clutch engages really far out in the pedal travel; I only have to press the pedal about 1/8 of the way down to shift
I am capable of doing the clutch myself, but I don't really want to because I'm lazy

If your good with your clutch skills and don`t let anyone else drive the truck .
you will be amazed just how long you can make this last you being lazy and all.
Just know this will fail at the worst time so be ready.:jessica::jessica:

I understand what you're getting at and I've been wondering the same thing myself...
Unfortunately, my mechanic is my boss; he owns a Toyota specialty shop among others, but that's not where I work.
Although he did want to straight trade my 33s for a set of 31s... You know, in the name of gas mileage and power

Well, it's not slipping but it smells burnt after a decent drive now.
Guess I'm working closer to ordering the Marlin setup...hopefully it holds on long enough to get me home so I can do the work over winter break.

Some members here have also suggested center force clutches, not sure the difference or price on the marlin but seems both have good reviews. I had mine replaced and I didn't specify what I wanted thinking its a cheep one I have chatter and its brand new with the flywheel resurfaced

Discombobulated:
Space-Junk posted this up on my thread when I was asking about the caveats of clutch replacement- it was the first time I'd done one in the 4Runner. Had some good info in it.
