Pulled this off the '85 today to replace the pilot and throwout bearings (squealing). THere was also an issue with being hard to get into gear which appears to be because of the adapter setup. Wasn't sure how that worked before digging in, so hopefully won't be an issue anymore. The trans is a cast iron case and aluminum top.

The vehicle was heavily modified by the PO, who seemed to do everything by the book, but I can't figure out what this transmission is. Called Marks 4WD months ago and gave them the part #s for both adapters but both were so old that they couldn't track it. Very helpful guys though, would definitely recommend if you have a need for their products. They did say if it was in a Toyota and a cast iron case that it was probably a Dyna transmission, but R452 were side shift, and it doesn't look like any H55 I've found a pic of yet.


Any ideas what the bolt I took out top right of PTO cover is for?
















Curious, does anyone know the function of this rod with the notch cut in it? Something to do with PTO engagement maybe? My thumb is through the PTO cover, pic is from the top of case.



This was the top adapter. Unsure how this brass shifter piece is going to hold up for years of abuse, we'll see.




Planning on reusing the Centerforce clutch. Looks alright, no?




Fingers are not so great but hopefully with a new TO bearing it'll work.

I haven't seen that style transmission. Marlin Crawler has pictures of different tranmissions that might help.

The only cast iron cases there are the L series though, which have the integral bellhousing. This one has a separate bellhousing with an adapter plate between it and the trans.

 

On the off chance anyone else is every searching for this info, the update is that the trans was made by Daihatsu, daughter company of Toyota, and is most likely out of one of their heavy duty Delta trucks, Hino, or similar. Unable to pinpoint the specific model trans, probably an M150-153 or M550 given the PTO port. I plan on running GL-4 in it and the transfer.
