Cool I wanted to go to the darkside...but it wouldn't match my purse

Well I just pulled the trigger on a super clean, 2004 Nissan Frontier 4x4 v6 ext. cab truck... It has the off road package, rear locker 42,000 miles and looks 100% new... I have been looking for a clean Taco in my price range but they are far and few between and after looking at the rust bucket 2003 D Cab last Friday I started thinking about Nissans... I hope it holds up as well as my 88 Toyota has over the last 17+ years! Anyone have any experiance with them?

Just installed a set of Doug Thorley headers and a Nismo cat-back exhaust on a buddies 01 V6 Supercharged 4x4 Frontier. It's been a good truck for him (has 130,000 on it). Good luck with it.

LMAO, well the last 2 Tacomas Ive looked at were both rusted messes, one was on 03 D canb, 70k 1 owner garaged was 100% GONE below, the other was an 05 ext cab, 4cyl 5 speed, SR5 package, it too had so much rust below that I laughed my way out of the lot.... The Nissan is like new, Im looking forward to the change, I might be back to a yota.. I might not, time will tell on this one! I like that I dont have to break down coil overs to install some Bilstein HD's.. thats a +1 already of the Tacoma

The 04 is the last year of the 3.3L V6, and the last year of the normal size compact 4x4, most of the newer trucks are just too damn big for me...Having been a Toyota guy for YEARS Im up for the change, Im anxious to see how the 04 Frontier is built compared to my dads 02 Taco TRD that is, by the way rusty... Time will tell!!!

Walked away from the 04 Nissan today...

OK, you can slap me... I didnt buy the Nissan, it did drive very nice and tight, much closer to my 88 than the Tacoma but it too was all rusted up, even with the low miles. The exhaust was peeling apart, the cab mounts were peeling, etc etc... not surface rust, actually flaking steel like the 03 Tacoma....

We went tonight and looked at brand new 2011 Tacomas, I did find an 02 Double Cab on a local lot, its clean with 110,000 miles on it but they are asking over 15k for it, Im going to offer them 12 and see what they can do, the new 2011's are 30k which is more than I want to spend on a truck but my fiance is pressing me to buy a new one considering Ive driven over 600 miles in the last 2 weeks and have been totally disappointed with the used market! I did climb under the 02, it was clean no rust, no mud or dirt and looked good inside... We shall see! The 04 Frontier is a nice size truck compared to the new Tacomas...... Decisions...

you silly the frame warranty should still be good on both of those >.< (double check first)
I had a new frame and leafs put on my '01 for the cost of labor in march... the dealer said that the frame warranty was for 15 years, which was news to me but still Toyota solved that problem at practically no expense xD

LMAO.... Im sorry but Im not willig to spend $15,000 on a used truck that has any rust on it! My dads 02 is clean underneith and it sits out... My 88 looks almost new underneith! Im just going to pick up my search for a clean Tacoma D cab but focus south of the rust belt, if I can deal on the one we looked at last night I might just buy it, its in the same shape as my dads with the same miles and his runs like new... My fiance is pressing me to buy a 2011 but I really dont want the big payments and to be 100% honest I just dont like the look of the new ones compared to the older models.... Im over my dark side kick, I did like the look and size of the Frontier but they dont seem to be built as well as the yotas...

My grandpa only drove nissan frontiers. He said they were indestructible. My family now drives all toyota but Maybe one day I'll try another nissan. I remember learning how to drive in a 2004 yellow nissan frontier. Very responsive throttle and lots of torque.

My father in law has a 06 frontier v6 4x4 4door and he only gets about 16-18mpg and he bought it brand new. The 97 F150 2wd V8 he gave us, his old DD, with over 120000 still gets me 20-22mpg with no load. The Tacos get better mpg, and last longer. Stick with what you know
