Unhappy I can't find a replacement truck!

Since January (when my truck was totalled), I've been saving up for a new truck. I have about 4K saved up and I'm ready to purchase, but I can't for the life of me find a decent replacement yota pickup. I basically want the same or similar truck: (89-95.5) 4x4, manual, extended cab with 170k or less.

Here's where I've been looking:
-local paper almost every day- mostly 88 or older

-local craigs list- mostly EXTREMELY overpriced 4runners (like 7k+ for a stock 91! wtf)

-ebay (never any local auctions, all the good looking pickups are in NY for some reason) I'm hesitant to buy a truck I can't look at first!

-yotatech marketplace (mostly 4runners or older trucks it seems)

Can anyone help me locate a truck within 250 miles of reno that fits my description? I feel that 4K should get me something decent, I purchased my truck last year with 148K on it for $3800 from a single owner with complete records and everything.

Hang tight. I recently jumped ship from Chevy to Toyota - owned Chevys all my life but swore my next vehicle would be a Toyota & now it is. I pretty much checked all that you've checked(forums, ebay, craigslist) & I thought I'd never find one. Then one day a 94 4runner popped up on my local craigslist for $3500. Was being sold by the original owner & was a GEM compared to everything I'd looked at in my price range. I think your location is the main thing that's giving you trouble. Have faith!

Dan,

I found the same exact issue. My pristine 93 4runner 5 speed was totalled and the insurance company listed about 25 auto's and not a single 5 speed.

I went to look at two listed as 5 speeds that were actually auto;s

I ended up with a 98 Limited...go figure ..

"Good things will come to those who wait".

When my 4runner was totaled last January, i happen to stumble upon what i wanted even though i wasn't really looking. Problem though is i didn't have enough money at the time. I found my current '96 here on yotatech but it was located in CA. I too was hesitant about buying a vehicle that i couldn't see in person but the seller did and told me EVERYTHING i could of asked for and was also willing to hold it for me untill i could fly out there with enough money saved.
It's been about 2 months since then and i'm 100% satisfied with the whole transaction and my "new" 4runner.

My brother's '01 Tacoma was also totaled in January and hes STILL looking for the perfect replacement (price, color, condition, etc.) like he had before. I'm sure someday soon he'll find the "one" hes been looking for.

It just takes time.

p.s. There are A LOT of those trucks in Colorado.

Otherwise, a very nice truck.

EDIT: I decided to make him an offer, I guess I could live with an auto, hope he accepts. The only problem would be getting the truck from texas.

I misread the first post, I thought you were looking for an auto, sorry.
I don't have any stake in this, just thought I'd pass the link along.

Good luck in your search!

I had my truck shipped from Michigan to South Carolina for about $600.00 back in January.

I agree that is a nice truck but I wouldn't settle for an auto regardless of who the seller was...especially if you owned a 5spd before hand.
