This Monday I accepted a State job in Austin, TX so I will be relocating by May 22nd. Most likely we will only have a 2 car garage, and I don't anticipate taking my truck with me. I am going to put it up for sale since I don't want to trailor it, but I quite honestly have no idea what's a fair price to ask for it. I was hoping for around $5100 or so.

I'd like some input from you guys as to what you think I can fetch in a local paper/magazine if you don't mind.

It's a 1989 xTra cab w/the basic SR5 package with a 3.0 V6, auto transmission and about 171k miles on the motor. It's in excellent condition for the vehicle year, runs great, and doesn't leak or burn any fluids. It has factory A/C, bucket seats and center console.

I would make sure you advertise it in papers that allow pictures because that seems a little high for a 1989 to me. Your's looks really nice though and obviously has a lot of extras so it would be benificial for people to see it. Someone that likes older Toyotas may be willing to pay a little more for a nice one. I'm thinking it would bring more like $4000-$4500. Especially where you are not in a position to wait around for the perfect buyer.

i wouldnt think it would be that hard to sell it for roughly 5k. its a clean truck!

A quick look at completed listings on ebay shows 87-91 Pickups going for $1500-$5500. Your truck looks to be in great shape with alot of good mods. I would sell it on Ebaymotors if I were you. $5000 seems possible. Good luck!

I don't think you'll be too hard pressed to sell it for about 5,100. But you gotta make sure you sell it somewhere where people can actually see it. If they see just 89 Toyota x-cab they won't be able to see what it really is. But very nice truck too bad you have to get rid of it.

I agree with all of the above. If you can get it on eBay, or a lister that will allow you to show a good number of pictures. Someone who knows what they're looking at will recognize that your truck is worth at least 5K. However, someone who just sees a "big red truck" may not understand what it's worth. Don't be afraid to hold your price. I think you'll get 5K for it. Heck, out here in the west, I've seen trucks similar to yours go for more than 5, and with fewer mods. Good luck!

WHY WHY WHY ... A few months to late for me. Your truck has a lot of the mods that are on my list to do.

I think your rig is easily worth what you are asking. The only issue is that the people who want a truck like yours often want to do the work themselves, and hence will seek out an unmodified truck. This is the biggest problem in my opinion.

You might consider "optioning" the truck to a seller. For example, selling without the bumper for a deduction in price. This approach could take more time however. Just a thought.

I don't have time to try and part it out. I have a house to pack in 3 weeks. I'd rather sell it as is and get the stuff done I need for moving. The E-Bay auction is looking good so far though.
