I can't decide what to do

So my Toyota pickup 85 22R carbureted, it needs its suspension probably taken care of but that'll cost me a grand and that'll be the end of my budget for now. Bushings need to be replaced, the leaf springs are nearly flat looking almost and even out of alignment on one side. I do have a $50 reinforcement kit but I'm kind of thinking that I should not really try to push it and maybe only even put them on to get to where I'm taking it. I'm not quite sure because it was not being used at all when I got the truck. And I'm pretty certain that the owner before that had been using their current vehicle so probably been sitting even longer than that it's probably been sitting for damn near a decade almost as a spare vehicle for rainy days. So I'll probably only put the kid on just to get to the blacksmith just at least for peace of mind. Unless you all have a better idea or think that mine's stupid which is absolutely not impossible. I do have some dumb ideas occasionally.

Here's possibly one right now, I do want to get myself an alternator that will actually fit my truck this time, that's about 400. I'm living off grid soon, so I do actually need that. But with the suspension being first up, my question is after I saved up some more money again would it be smarter to get a alternator that has a higher output or get the underdrive kit that comes with a water pump pulley and I guess lowers the power consumption? Increases efficiency? because I would like to do something I've been seeing more and more which is putting a 20R head/camshaft on the 22R. Been a while since I had my 4runner which was operating properly but on the pickup that I was watching on YouTube looks like the RPMs are 2x faster. I'm sure not the first person to mention it, but none of them had my original question about the suspension kit as well.
