347,659 mi, as of last night. Just 20k on this engine. Back story...
Bought in 97 at Dirkes used dealership in Choteau, MT. One owner truck. In about late 99, timing cover had enough, made a milkshake. Rather than replace timing set and cover, dad decided an unknown condition junkyard motor was better...in 2000, tranny developed issues, probably related to JY motor, according to my uncle, a Toy and import tech. Rebuilt tranny. In 2002, rear 3rd member went, as a result of bad tranny rebuild. Replaced tranny and rear 3rd. In about mid 04, JY engine timing cover had enough, made a good bye milkshake. I split the cost of a "low mile imported " engine with my dad, and it lasted until...
March 08, when, on my mid tour leave, I learned I would be car-less for the duration of my stay. Kid sister nuked that motor, out "mudding". So in early 09, I located a rebuilder here local, and popped $1100 for a reman longblock, with a THREE YEAR warranty. Its been a great 3 years plus, and never misses a beat. Gets babied, flogged on occasion, runs 5w40 rotella, and is about to get a fill of redline lubes, duff's, trans and t-case. Mismatched bed is due to Portland's tri-met bus backing into it about the time the original motor croaked.
