I use 5th on the freeway all the time... 33's with 4.10s with a worn out 3.0. I feel the 3.0 is weak, I couldn't imagine driving a 22re truck....

2,250 RPM's most of the time. I got all of that idiotic high speed, high RPM driving out of my system when I hit 21. People don't know peacefulness they're missing by cruising at a medium pace.

5th gear is absolutely pointless. (4.10's 31" tires)
i dont know about all of you, but at 70 im right at 3100 or so in 5th, i cant afford to leave it in 4th. i have 31s and havent taken time or brain power to figure out my gears

I dont understand what you guys are talking about.... 5th gear is awsume I use it everytime I get. If I do have to go up a nice hill I will downshift, but I can easily keep my speed up in 5th at 55mph.

well, since Ive pretty much broken the gas pedal off the firewall you could say i accelerate pretty hard, general driving i shift at 3500-4000, if I'm in a hurry about 5200, and there is a hill i go up every day going to work that im usually wide open in 3rd at 4000 for about 30 sec.

heavy 33's suck, i haven't checked my mileage in awhile but i bet its 15-18mpg

according to "how to keep your toyota alive" the sweet spot for mpg and longevity (for a 22r/e) is 2300 to 3500 rpm's ... i have started to shift around 3400.

anything less and they say you are makeing the engine work harder to get the rpm's up (lugging)

too much more and you are wasteing your time because it does not produce power at high rpms.

I'm pretty much set on 3 grand for a good solid shift point. In the Tundra, I do all I can to get it to shift at or below 2500, for the best mpgs. I try to fill that 26 gal. tank up as little as possible.

I don't have a tach but I hold 71 (so actually about 80 since the speedo is off with the larger than stock tires) in fifth gear with 31's pretty easily so IDK why you guys don't like 5th gear lol

i dont know the exact rpm's because of no tach but i go like this

1st-2nd 15
2nd-3rd 25
3rd-4th 35
4th-5th anywhere from 45 to 55
then 5th gear all the way up to 75 if i need to...thats as fast as i have gone in this truck

oh and its a 22r.
