Question How hard is your foot on the gas?

Say you're at a complete stop (eg. traffic light) how hard do you press on the gas to accelerate to reach the legal speed?

I go to about 2200rpm, post your number approx.

(Mods can move this if it's in the wrong section)

22,000 RPM would blow your motor, lol.

I'm not racing anyone so I drive like I have an egg under the pedel. Shifting around 2500-3000 RPM. I don't usually go above 3000 RPM unless I'm in 5th or pulling a hill.

id tell ya but i dont have a tach yet. i have the cluster, but my mechanic still hasnt finished resetting the mileage to 256,000. he says he broke a metal holding tab on it, but its mostly cosmetic, so he's gonna put some kind of weld on it or something. ill let you know when i get that. i just shift by the sound of the engine.

I usually try to keep it around 2700rpm or so. I trying to squeeze every single mpg out right now!

2nd @ 15
3rd @ 25
4th @ 35
5th @ 50

No tach, this is per the books suggestion, and yields the best MPG.

So the first shift in gears should be 1500? That's pretty slow isn't it?

I believe those are mph, not rpm*100

3k or less for me(Highest ive ever revved my motor to was like 5k, no point after that unless your got some built engine). My friend on the other hand likes to go to about 7k with 22r every other time he accelerates.

I shift around 3000-3500...usually. Or by MPH, like this:

1st-2nd: 15-17MPH

2nd-3rd: 25-33

3rd-4th: 40-50

4th-5th: for longer straight stretches without hills.

mine always shifts at 4000 straight, then im going alright. before i shift to third, i really feel some kind of boost. then im going normal speeds and at 50mph im at about 1700 rpm's.

I dont use 5th.. no tach yet, sr5 cluster on the way tho

1st -2nd 20
2nd - 3rd 38
3rd -4th 55
4th - 55+ .. I cruise the freeway at 70 in 4th.

5th gear is absolutely pointless. (4.10's 31" tires)

i rarely go above 2500RPM. unless there is someone next to me who deserves to beaten by a 3.0. and i'm not sure why some of you guys dont, but i use 5th when i can. it really saves mpg's. especially on the highway.
