How awesome is Toyota??? Awesome!!!
Just a heads up for anyone who didn't know...
I've been having trouble w/my keys ever since I bought my 4Runner. The most annoying problem is/was my key only worked on the back window and ignition so when I needed to lock it up I had to go through the back to unlock the doors, been putting up w/this for a year now.
Yesterday I was at the Mazda dealer w/my brother and decided i'd go over to Toyota and see what they could do about a new lockset for the doors. The kid at the parts counter says "Bring me your registration and ID and I can just cut a new key from the VIN# for free". In less than 15 minutes he had a key in my hand that worked in all the door locks and ignition and it didn't cost a thing.
Anyone w/old, bent, worn out keys can go down a get a new key cut and resolve similar issues you may be having.
Thanks Toyota!

Nice kid to do it for free, most charge but not much if you want the Toyota on the key it's more than the blank. But they work better than getting it cut anywhere else, I got some cut at my local ace hardware and both of them were beyond stubborn.

Or...you take out the pass. doorlock cylinder, write the code down, and reassemble. Then take the code down, $7.50 later, two new keys! Take old one to bench grinder and DESTROY, bam, done.

That would only work with a virgin vehicle that nothing was ever changed .
Funny if your keys didn`t work correct after they were cut why didn`t you take them back. around here they work or you get a refund.
Then my people always make them work.

So now you have one key that works all the locks.
So who ever cut the keys or your key they copied to start where notcut correct.
Don`t forget to lube the lock cylinders to make them work easier.

You know how it is... they get old, the teeth get worn down a little, a copy gets made, worn down more, another copy gets made from the copy, blap blap blap. Lubed the locks and now they're smooth like butta. I need to get another one made for my pickup, no teeth left at all on that one.

LOL sounds like work. That may be how they do it in Oretucky... round these parts it's easier to go to the dealer. GO DUCKS!!!

When I first bought my 1991 4Runner, the key was so badly worn that you couldn't even really see much of a profile on it anymore. Took it in to the parts counter at one of the local dealerships and the guy hand cut me a new key by eye, using the old one as reference. Worked like a charm. Parts guys with those kinds of skill sets are rare, indeed. Shame he left that dealership.
