Help on A/C Line clamp

I am trying to repair the front end of a 2007 FJ Cruiser and got to replacing the A/C condensor and lines. I can't figure how to disconnect the A/C line clamp. The tech manual shows a special tool. I have tried to use a stiff wire in a U shape and can get the wires into the holes but it will not release. Does anyone know the trick to getting this open?

Thanks

Get the special tool. Either buy a set or check Autozone. They used to have a loaner tool program.
