Hard to shift
I think I've got some tranny porblems tell me what you think.
85 std cab 22r 5sp
when shifting into first it's almost like the clutch isn't even there, I gotta push dam hard for it to clunk into gear and when it does it does not sound or feel pretty.
When shifting to second from first it is equally difficult unless I rev the motor up and put a fair amount of pressure on the stick as the motor comes back down then it will just kinda click into second. Shifting from third to second there is no trick i gotta force it in.
The only reason I don't think its the clutch (I just replaced the master and slave cyl) is because sitting still with clutch in and brake off the truck doesn't move. The RPMs dont ever change either like it should if the clutch isn't fully disengaging.

Is the shifter also kind of flopping around, and and hard to find gears with? If so it's most likely the shifter seat, grab one of Marlin's http://www.marlincrawler.com/htm/tra...rans_parts.htm
Made my truck shift like new again (the seat bushing was completely gone, no trace of anything), no more missed shifts. I'd grab a shifter socket as well just so you've got all new parts.

I already did the shifter seat upgrade from marlin and the nylon bushing looked fine when i did it.
I'm not sure that the bushing or seat would care what rpms the motor was at when I was tryin to shift either. The symptoms are leading me to think I need to look for a new tranny.
