fuel pump problem

I posted a few days ago about a part i couldnt identify. I finally figured out that it came from the fuel pump. It was the piecs where the spring attaches to the arm. I just now figured out why when i bloted on the new pump. The arm is hitting the head when it actuates. The head has been replaced by a PO and has Top Line cast in it. Head is back on truck and almost ready to fire up. I dont want to grind with it on and dont have time to remove to grind.

Any suggestions? Installing an electric is not out of the question.

is the spacer installed between the pump and head? its about a 1/8" piece of plastic shaped like the two gaskets that is supposed to be on there.

yes its there, and the old pump had one also. I can feel a notch where the old one hit. If i rolled the engine over the new one would have broken off also. I guess electric is my only real option
