Found the squeak... What is this?
Had this truck for about a week. Trying to figure out how it works. I noticed a little squeek when going over bumps. Figured I should lube the suspension.
I was under it today looking around and found a bar that moves, creating the squeak. It also looks like there should be some bushings here.
Can someone tell me exactly what this is and that it's not exactly normal.
The first pic is looking from behind FL tire looking toward inside of FR tire. The bolt that goes through the plate has 3 bad looking bushings and then nothing below those.
The second pic is a bar that connects those 2 bolt/bushings and it moves, pushing the bolts farther through the plate creating the squeak.

thats your swaybar. you have a couple options. either replace teh bushings, get quick disconnects, or just take it off. with out a swaybar you will flex out alot better. i've had both my swaybars off for over an year and have had no problems.

Thanks!
So it looks like the sway bar bushings are in good shape. They are the things that hold the bar from 2 u shaped clamps.
I guess maybe these are the endcaps? (See pic)
If you follow the sway bar around to where the bolt connects on the end, there is a 5 inch long screw with 2 pathetic little bushings that only take up about 1 inch total.

That's the sway bar link. Those bushings are toast. Replace ALL the bushings with the sway bar, or remove the bar altogether. Alternatively, shorten the length of the links so there is not as great a pressure through the sway bar, thus increasing flexibility and at the same time still adding some road handling ability. The purpose of the sway bar is to dampen body roll.
You may have cut your own metal if you decide on the alternative as the bushings will probably come in a kit along with new links. Good luck.

If you don't offroad that much and don't need the flex, then just get poly bushing sway bar kit from energy suspension or daystar. It comes with all the parts you need to replace the old bushings and endlinks.

Been thinking about removing the sway bar as that's cheapest fix... However, wouldn't I greatly increase the chances of going belly up? I would sure rather spend $40 than total my toy.
Also for the condition that the endlinks are in now... is it actually doing ANYTHING?
Who would you recommend buying the endlinks from, if I go that route?
Thanks

I haven't had my sway bar attatched on my truck for almost 3 years now. Its not that big of a deal to drive without it as long as you realize its a truck and not a 'vette going thru "s" curves

Suffering from "squeak . . . . . squeak . . . . . . . squeakity-squeak . . . . squeak" . . . . I've been trying to figure out the source. Be thankful that you've identified the source of yours! Hope springs eternal, so I removed my swaybar after work this evening. I took it around the block and sure enough, "squeak . . . squeakity-squeak" while rolling along at about 30 mph on a mildly bumpy road.

I am not totally sure that's what causes the squeak I hear. I can wiggle the sway bar and hear a squeak. But there could easily be others!
Keep looking and let me know when you find yours what it was...

Anyone know where I can get a tube of "elbow grease"?
For the life of me, I can't get the endlinks off. I have tried squirting some silicone spray up there and bike chain lube. The bolts are fairly rusty and I'm holding the bolt with a wrench and using a socket wrench on the nut.
Contemplating getting a hacksaw to cut thru the endlink.
Any tricks for stubborn bolts would be greatly appreciated. I can easily get the bolts holding the Sway bar bushings, just can't get the endlinks off. Maybe cutting out the bushings with a razor blade will make it easier.

I have the parts... having trouble trying to get the end links off of the sway bar. Good news is that with sway bar off and skid plate tightened, no squeaks! Sounds great to drive around the block. Don't notice any body roll granted I'm only taking the turns at 25 mph at most.

I finally took the sway bar off after wrenching for about 2 hours and constantly slipping off the bolt, smashing my hand into the wheel. It wasn't pretty but I got the bolt loose and finally got it off.
But for the life of me, I can't get the end links off of the sway bar. There is a long bolt with a metal sleeve on it (kinda like a 3 inch long washer of diameter .5 inch, maybe called a metal spacer). After 200K miles, this thing is welded to the bolt. I broke my hacksaw trying to get one of these off, the other is no use either. I have spent about 3-4 hours sawing it (over the course of several days).
With my swaybar off, cross winds kill me. I feel so unstable, although I don't know how this truck will feel in a crosswind with a solid sway bar on.
How the hell do I get the end links off???
