Flatbed Thread!
Hi all, Im pretty new to this forum but have been reading alot of posts since I picked up a 85 4x4. Im in the process of rebuilding the thing and got to the point of what I am going to do about a bed. I google searched and forum searched the flat bed posts and couldnt find a thread dedicated to flatbeds so I figured I would try to make one.
So I dont know how this will turn out but if you have a flatbed on your rig I would love to see it as I am probably going to have to make one.

Hi there, I have 2 pictures of a flat bed truck I used to own. It was an 85 and a really cool truck. The bed on it was made of aluminium and really well built. I wish I could say that I made it but that glory goes to the previous owner. That bed even had a removable section with a compartment under the floor of the bed, along with a lockable toolbox on both sides. The guys that bought that truck from me are taking it to Honduras. I really think that is proof of how good these trucks are, you don't hear of anybody buying a ranger with 350 on the odometer and driving it that far ha ha. The third picture is just a truck I saw driving down the road. I had my passenger take a pic of it because I really liked the bed on it. Hope these give you some inspiration for the one you might end up building. Good luck! It should be a fun project!
This bed had an aluminium box tube bolted on each side on all 4 bed mounts. On top of that were several aluminium angle cross members. On top of that were sections of 1/4" aluminium diamond plate with angles around the sides and front of the bed

A friend of mine recently bought an '84 with a totally bad ass custom flat bed/rack made with tubular steel. Lockable boxes - yes, including a roll out tool box in the center of the rear end of the bed.
