there are quite a few V8 motor swap threads on pirate4x4.....

lots do the SBC, some do the ford 302, and some do a 351. Most of the threads I have read, they keep the chevy transmission and then either use an adapter to run toy tcases, or stick to the chevy tcases.

why would you want, to put a chevy or ford motor in a toyota ? IMO, the motor is the HEART of Toyota, and pulling it, and replacing it with a ford or chevy, you just killed the reliabilty, the dependablity of it.
wouldnt it be easier to just sell the yota, and buy a chevy ? or ford ?

Ric, Thats why they are replacing it because there is no reliability and the 3.0 owners know that pretty much anyother engine will produce almost 2x the hp and most likely better gasmilage, Not to mention parts are so much easyer to come by, Cheaper and more reliable.

Probably just for more power. And you gotta admit, Toyota v8 swaps are way tougher.

Well, it does bolt it. Of course that's after you weld on mew motor mounts, and get a new bell housing. Of course neither of those things really meet the defonition of "bolt on".

You may want to thing about either upping to an R series tranny, or using a Chevy tranny. The W56 is a good tranny, but if you like to use the skinny pedal, and have big tires and/or lockers it's a recipe for blowing it apart.

Ummm, the 3.0 may lack power but it is a very dependable motor if taken care of.

False. You will need new motor mounts, radiator, and exhaust.

I can't for the life of me understand why. This absolutely breaks my heart. I don't know where a lot of people on here get info but in my opinion the WORST Toyota motor ever produced would be better than ANY Chevy or Ford motor.

I tend to agree with you on that. But, Toyota's are more dependable on more than the engine level.

Plus, you can't beat a tiny Toy Truck with a 351 jammin' through the mud
