Engine need
Does any body know of a engine builder in the Four Corners area? I would like to have my 22RE rebuilt or find one rebuilt on the cheaper side, or anything on the under 75,000 mile range for sale. Same goes for a 22R, I have the possibility of picking up a 85 p/u too. I saw a guy in Salida, Colorado that was selling rebuilds on Craigslist, does anybody know him?
Thanks, Jim

Rebuild it yourself it is one of the easiest motors to rebuild even if you have never done one before trust me I just did mine and all the info I needed I got right here in this forum and had no books, manuals or experience with a 22re and I hot rodded mine.
Check it out here

And here's another new builder using both of them links to do his although he is not going to go all the way like both of us did but it gives you a idea of how much info you can get just by starting and asking questions

Olharleyman is right, it's not too difficult to rebuild yourself. I bought a dvd on ebay for $20 that shows you step by step how to rebuild and the tools you'll need. There is also a shop in Albuquerque that specialized in toyota engines. Don't know if that is too out of the way for you but it's somewhat close by if you really don't want to do it yourself. I think they charge like $1000 for the engine and another $600 if you want it installed. I found them on the Albuquerque Craigslist under auto parts, I think. Check it out.

everybody is right.
YOTATECH provided me with the information and encouragement to do what I have and will do.
My advice to anyone contemplating this is making a realistic shopping list. But in reading other posts when they paid $2400 to have a head gaket and timing chain cover done and realizing that mine will cost about $300 or less provides enough encouragement to do things myself.
Even if i am SUPER SLOW.
BTW the original poster started this thread 11-1-09....hopefully he's still thinking about it.
