Enclosed Car Cargo Trailer
I'm looking at buying a really large trailer. What is the largest trailer people have pulled with a similar tow vehicle? I have a 2000 extended cab V6 4x4.
I am not too concerned about weight as the trailer will be practically empty. I am wondering about trailer width, height, and length. I've been looking at trailers that are 8.5' wide and 24' long about #2300 dry.
I would do trailer brakes and a sway controller. I might even budget for a turbocharger with this trailer. I'm worried about being pushed around by such a larger trailer and a relatively light truck.
Why would I want such a large trailer but wouldn't load it heavy you ask? I need a place to store my canoes and kayaks, preferably close to water. I currently do not have a place for that nor do I expect to get on anytime soon. I would treat this trailer as a mobile storage unit for my gear only pulling it occasionally. I might have to pull it for a couple 600 mile round trips a year and I might be moving to the coast (2000 miles plus two mountain ranges) which would be a bare to pull, but that is a one time situation.

Yeah the wind resistance could be a huge factor with that spruce goose If this is an auto tranny you better get an extra ATF cooler and if you install a SC get a valve body upgrade too. Maybe you could add a bullet nose cone to it for less drag.

oops, I meant Turbocharger. I've never wanted a supercharger. Not sure why I ever wrote that. Turbo with a small boost, nothing crazy, just a little help on the hills. I have a manual so no tranny cooler. Already have load assist bags for the rear suspension and I'll probably replace the leafs before much longer.
Wind resistance is exactly what I want to know. Has anyone pulled this large of a trailer and what is it like. The largest one at my disposal for a test pull is only 7 wide and 16 long. Not nearly as big as what I am looking at.
