E-Brake Cable break

So I broke my e-brake cable and found where the brake was, its just infront of the part where the front cable connects to the rear. I thought I could just open up where the wire was originally connected and reconnect and clamp it down, and adjust the spring to the proper distance. But than i realized the old piece doesn't open up.

Is there any other way I can do this, with another piece instead or something?

Here are some pix of what I am working with.

Also, the wire is not fully extedned in the pictures, its caught up near the handle and has a few bends but nothing too bad. Will this be a problem?

And also, i looked online for the front wire but all i could fine was things that said rear right and rear left, so who knows where this is?

it will be a bit tight behind the trans and firewall to get your hands in there. get a chiltons or haynes manual and follow the step by step, its pretty easy. behind the dash where the handle comes through, if you reach up and feel on top of the handle, there are 2 small pauls that you must release in order for the handle to retract enough to get the cable barrel end to come out of the pull rod. that is the only part that the haynes isnt too clear in showing. there are a couple spots where the cable has clips that are bolted to the frame on the pass side and another clip where it passes the frame to make the final connection where it splits to the rear brakes. if you dont have a b/l its a bit tight but managable.

i had to replace to cable from the pull handle to where yours broke. not the easiest thing to do, but its doable. go to the dealer and have them print out the exploded diagram of the ebrake assembly, that what i did and it helped alot in figuring out how to remove the old one. one of the hardest parts was unbolting from the firewall due to a lack of clearance.

I'm gettin it from the dealer and its $66.66, I hate OEM parts.... so expensive.
But when I go there I will also get the diagram printed up.

check out strap22, he works for a toyota dealer and can probably do better on pricing for members here. i believe there are a couple more members that work at dealerships and may offer members special pricing.
