Deal of the century

Ok, ladies and gentlemen. I happen to come across an amish man that does sand blasting and powder coating.

(Really quick, a common missconception is that Amish don't do anything involving electricity. If it is a business that benifits the amish community they are allowed to use electricty. However, they are not allowed to drive home at the end of the day. Flick on the TV and chill out buggy style...HAHAHA)

This amish guy offered to blast and coat my frame ('88 P/U) for $250. I can't strip this thing down fast enough.
My dilema is...I was given unlimited color options. I'm not creative or artistic. I would hate to go with black but, my mind keeps taking me there. Everything will be powder coated...give me ideas!!! I need to emphasize (NOT CREATIVE)

Can I get some input, ideas or, images of powdercoated frames?

Red face

Pray tell where is this happening at???

I would go with a flat black myself

my second choice would be hot pink to match the paint job.

Yes go black, I'm actually confused as to why bright glow green is multiplying under trucks these days??

Truck was blue/red/white/tan. Now...it's primer and Krylon Ultra Flat OD. I'm probably going to take the cab and fenders to be powder coated also. This guy is absolutly amazing. He's in the central PA area and I will be more than happy to share the wealth once I put my own truck on the line.

Flat Black is probably going to be the final choice.

This seems so boring though.

Three thoughts I did have was...RUST BROWN (Just to be stupid) and that glow green that Discombobulated mentioned and, finally a dark red/candy (blood like)

Like I said I'll put my truck through the ringer with this. Then make sure he's willing to do more and I'll get his info out there.

One more question. How well do you think he'll be able to blast the inside of the frame rails and...will that be able to be coated as well. I'm not familiar with the details of powder coating. I know it's a + and - charge that keeps the powder in place then it gets baked in place. Other than that. I don't know what coverage is like in spots that aren't easily accessable.

Doesnt powder coating break off in big chunks when struck by rocks or debris while
off-roading? Dont get me wrong thats an awsome deal, but I dont know if I would have mine powder coated for free even. Ya its tougher then paint but when it does chip it chips down to the bare metal and is impossible to repair. All you can do is paint over it leaving a big dip.

S.Skinner - I'll keep you posted.

ThatGuy1295 - I'm tracking with what your saying. I have thought about that and I believe it will chip if I take enough of a blow from a rock. I've convinced myself to go ahead with it. If you think about it...Quads, Sand Rails and Tube Buggies are typically powder coated. If it survives two off-road beatings then I should be ok. This build isn't focused on off-road. Just trying to get another 30+ years out of the truck.

Outsane - Good concept but I've got a cement garage that will be my "drip pan" hahaha

redbayredneck - Since the typical location I drive is only tolorated and not completely "legal" I would like to keep it as hidden as possible. Same reason i'm running a decently quiet exhaust as well.

Definitely post his info. I'm in central PA and need my wheels done as well, along with various other parts, now that I think about it.

And I'd go with gunmetal grey. Dark, but different and tough looking. Or maybe a deep flat green, like the green in standard camo.
