A day in Corey's detail shop

Started in washing the rig at 6:30 am (early bird here) and setup all my stuff after drying the rig off.

Had to wait about 30 minutes before I could fire up the Porter Cable, as it was around 8:30, and I do not like to make noise until 9 am.

Using the claybar and Porter Cable is pretty loud, however using the Porter Cable with the wax pad is pretty quiet.

Finished up all the way with everything back inside by 11:30 am, and this was taking my time, and having to talk with curious neighbors who have not seen what a Porter Cable can do.
Must have wasted at least a good 30 minutes or so yakking about it.

The results are nothing short of stunning, but pictures (in the vid too) can never really capture the depth and reflection.

Could not really focus on the hood of the rig with the camera, was to hard to shoot while using the orbital.

Pics are huge, around 2.2 MB each, camera set to 8 megapixels

Model 7336.
For more info, check out my detail link in my sig.
That site has not bee updated in eons though, but I have links there to a lotta stuff.
However the PC link is dead, that shop is gone.

You will need the backing plate for the PC, Griots and other shops carry it.
The backing plate has the Velcro in it for the pads to stick to.

I bet my Rustoleum flat black paint on the 85 would do well with a clay bar.

And my F350 would take a week to just clay bar.

I do not think the clay would be able to make that as smooth as a babies butt Brian.

Nah, we could knock out the F350 in under an hour.
I clayed my whole rig in about 20 minutes or so.
It is faster than waxing, but hard on you from the vibration.

I would turn it off afterwards to wipe the Speed Shine residue off, and my fingers would be tingling.

I think I should look into getting a buffer like that.
I clay'd my truck by hand.. my god.
took so freakin long and I was so freakin sore.
I tried to wax but I could only do my hood..(never clay'd or waxed before!)

It is effortless.
Like I mentioned, the vibration from doing the clay gets my arms/fingers tingly for a bit, but nothing bad.

Doing the wax with the Porter Cable is a cinch, as there is no vibration.
Doing it this way is almost like cheating

I have not hand waxed a vehicle since I bought all this stuff.

Griots also has a Porter Cable they rebadge with their name on it, and it comes with the backing plate.
