Colorado truck laws

Just bought an 86 pickup with a very rotted out bed on it. The cab is in decent shape, but the bed looks horrible. I've tried to search this on the web, even went through the Colorado Revised Statutes, but have not found an answer to my question.

I'm coming from Kentucky, where it seemed A-OK to do just about anything to your vehicle. I want to remove the bed on this truck since it's in such poor shape, but it won't get replaced immediately. Still would like it to be able to drive it however.

If anyone can't point me t a site that would be of any use, I really appreciate it! Thanks!

Title 42, article 4.

Long story short, so long as you have brake lights, tail lights, and turn signals, just about everything seems to be OK. Hell, you see back half buggies on the road around here...

Thats what I was thinking when I read through it. As long as I have all proper lights and such, I'm good to go. I've seen a couple bedless trucks around here, but wasn't sure if was legal.

I'm 99% sure your going to need mudflaps on the rear since the tires won't be covered by fenders... At least that's how I've read it is in almost every other state

No issues there. I'll just keep the brackets and flaps that are on there. Easy enough to do. Looks like I have a weekend project at hand.

Would like to fashion something rather cheap and easy to put between the framerails, just not sure how I'd like to do it... That'll be the weekend after.

This truck is basically my on-the-cheap trail rider, as I'm about to deploy, but still wanted to have some fun while I can.

Any ideas for the build, feel free to comment!

No fender law in Colorado - there is in Utah, though, so if you're planning on taking it to Moab, you need some form of mudflap.
