Cold Start Problem

I have a problem with a 1999 3.4 4Runner.

When I attempt to start it cold, as in the mornings first start it will not start unless I use the gas pedal and "feather the gas" to get it running while turning the key. This is opposed to how it usually starts, turn the key, engine fires and holds at 1400rpm.

Once its running and a little warm it drives just fine. I believe that this is most likely a problem with the some sort of cold start sensor but dont know where to start.

I already cleaned the MAF sensor and it had no effect.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a sticking or bad IAC (Idle air control) valve. It would be worth removing and cleaning the valve before purchasing a new one.

I pulled the intake hose off today and sprayed some cleaner in the throttle body and it seems to have helped. Is there a better way to clean the IAC?
