2001 Taco with aluminum wheels. (See avatar)

What is the best way and best products to use to clean and polish these wheels? They have normal wear with some mild pitting. Power Ball, sand paper, etc.?

I saw some stock 4runner alluminium rims some guy i knew had and he cleaned them with oven cleaner. They looked good

Others i have seen used some polish and/or some really fine wet sand paper!

 

This might be what I am looking for. Fairly certain that mine do not have clear coat (the are a more "textured" type) however even doing that step won't hurt.

I didn't notice any recommendations in the article, although I only had a chance to give it a quick glance.
