Catastrophic 22RE FAIL!

had to post these up a HOLE in the side of a 22RE block















HOLY HECK and they sayed 22re's are made from samari swords this motor was just over a year old

Man I don't know what is sadder the hole in the block or them poor kids standing there next to the runner looking so bummed out

dereck the guy who owns the runner says the motor ran perfect just drove it to and from portland and this fail caught him by surprise.

mechanical failure was the connecting rod broke at the crank shaft and launched the piston.

I do recall him hydro locking his motor several months ago and I suspect that may have hurt it, but thats not for sure.

the poor kids were expecting a fun filled day of wheeling now there the familys big toy was broken.

OH NO!!! you talkin at tahuya when i helped pull the plugs? jeez poor guy. I'll buy that front bumper from him so he can put a down payment on a new motor.

Previous unrepaired damage caused that if it had been hydro locked before.

thats what I am thinking..... i am almost postive I heard that motor make a thwaacking sound when he tried starting it after I pulled him out of that water crossing

He has a line on one and the donor is coming from DC's beater trail rig I am gutting the EFI stuff for my hybrid.

Update I jsut got done removing this motor and the block blew out from both sides the starter took a good hit and was destroyed the clutch puck also took a shock load and warped it good.

after closer inspection it seens as if the ROD BROKE IN HALF the piston is slammed into the head and the rod bearings are perfectly intact free spinning

pics soon I have to get the peice of junk to my house first

yea good motor btw

compression came in @ 190 195 195 200

right now its sitting in his runner waiting to be fired

I think that deal worked out for all of us

soon I will have a 20RE
