A/C is acting strange.

I recharged my a/c and now it cycles on and revs up to like 2000 rpms and cycles off back to normal rpms. I can't figure out why it revs so high. I checked the amplifier and turned the trottle up and down but it makes no difference. Then when I'm driving it kicks on and off quickly and randomly and doesn't work very well.

Thanks

If its an older model truck you can adjust the A/C idle up, by turning it down.

I tried that. The idle control on the amplifier has no effect on the idle. It used to work until recently.

I just realized that there is a screw on the throttle of the carb that is connected to a valve. I think it is the adjusting screw you spoke of. I tried to turn it and it wouldn't budge so I'm gonna spray it and use a longer screwdriver next time.

The screw on the A/C Amplifier is used to set the RPM below which the A/C is shut off (to avoid bogging down the engine). It has nothing to do with what RPM the engine idles at, that is controlled by the A/C idle-up adjustment screw. Probably the one you see on the carb.
