the diff is up above the lower crossmember. with a diff drop, you're only dropping the diff body a little, it's still above that crossmember - which is the mounting point for the skid, so yes, it will work with a diff drop.

allright, i just got off the phone with Bud and here's the deal:

I just talked to Bud. He's a super nice guy by the way. When we were talking he mentioned that I need to choose between the belly pan and the V6 crossmember/skid plate. He said that he'd email me some photos to help me decide. He mentioned that guys who SAS their trucks go with the CM/SP instead of the BP. What do you guys think? I don't have any current plans to SAS but who knows what the future holds. The CM/SP is $152 more than the BP.

I have placed my order with Budbuilt today, for a Tacoma ifs skid plate, belly pan, and belly pan cross-member. Shipping is going to be only about $46 total to ship to Ohio.

Using my stellar search abilities I read that a small drive train lift can be accomplished with the new crossmember. Further reading led me to comments that the small drive train lift could be accomplished without changing the motor mounts. I noticed that RB has motor mount spacers available. I have a 1" RB BL. Comments?

The photos of the V6 CM were about a year old. So, I don't know if Buds current CM looks the same. I'm trying to picture how everything will tie together . . . . skid plate, Sonoran Stell truss, crossmember/skidplate . . . . or belly pan.

Just so that the thread has it "from the man himself", I asked bud this when I got mine last year:
- Will it work with an IFS system that has had a diff-drop?

Yes! Mine has 1 1/8"

If i were to do it again..... I *might* have gone with a 1/2" DT lift rather than 3/4" only because i had vibrations at highway speeds and didn't want to install MM spacers. After a couple weeks though, i didn't notice the vibrations nearly as much as before. In fact they almost disapeared completely. This can vary between individual vehicles of the same generation though. IIRC, I was told that lifting the drivetrain is only a problem on 2nd gen 4runners (and possibly trucks but IDK)...ask both 4cralwer and Bud for more details.
I was debating on getting 1/2" motor mount spacers from 4crawler but ended not needing them. If you have a 1" BL and want the maximum amount of ground clearance, then get a full 1" DT lift crossmember and 3/4" motor mount spacers. If you don't want to mess with MM spacers, then consider just a 1/2" lift crossmember. OR you can get a 3/4" lift crossmember (like i had) and IF you have too much vibration, you can always put "spacers" between the frame mount and the crossmember to lower it down.

Either way, Buds single T-case crossmember for a 88-95 rig will give you better protection and way more ground clearance with or without a built-in DT lift.

Oh man... the timing on this couldn't be better.

2 questions - first, are the mounting bolts exposed? It doesn't look like it from the pic, but I wanted to be clear. Second - anyone know if he's making a gas tank skid as well?

I'm in for the IFS and belly plates - just gotta double check with the wife that we have the money.

The bolt heads up on the front lip (under the radiator) are exposed. The ones back farther on the plate are large countersunk hex head bolts (wrench is provided) which leaves the look flush from front to back.

Does anyone think skid+bellypan+crossmember is overkill?

Torn between the extra ground clearance with the crossmember vs the smooth bottom with the bellypan vs the cost of all 3 (even with the 20%)
